I love winter. And I'm thrilled that it's raining. That car park out the back of our flat really needs watering!! Wilski the toddler is eyeing off the car park puddles with ever-increasing glee. I'm sensing a water-logged outing some time this afternoon... if I can be bothered getting us all out of our pyjamas, that is.
Anyway... I'd like to have a giveaway, for no reason really so let's just say it's to celebrate the lovely and very-much-needed rain falling in Melbourne today.
First 'prize' is a scarf. It's made from wool fabric with some appliqued red Aunty Cookie Knit One fabric detail. It's not yet finished but it will look much like the scarf above with red detail - the bottom two pictures show you the kind of length and width.
Second and third prize are Swineys. Because you might as well get the Swine 'Flu Virus along with the rest of Victoria! Check out my previous posts if you wish to see what these little pieces of winter whimsy are...
So, if you're up for a toasty scarf or a Swiney, please comment below and tell me what you love (or not) about winter. I'll pick winners at random on June 17 in one week's time. You don't have to be a follower or anything but make sure I can contact you via a blog or email.
NB despite the wintry theme, this is open to international readers. If indeed they exist!! :-P
Oh Yah! I would love to win a swiney. My fave thing about winter is rain on a tin roof at nightime... expecially when tucked up in a nice warm bed.ReplyDelete
Where to start...knowing it's cold outside and being cozy inside, beanies, that cold cheek feeling when the rest of me is rugged up, that icy feeling in the air telling me it's snowing somewhere, being able to get warm again, knitting, crocheting, reading tucked up under a blanket...I could go on and on! I LOVE winter!ReplyDelete
How many swineys have you made now?
Being in Canberra, we are well accustomed to winter. It is a gorgeous clear day today but FREEZING! I love wintery comfort food - those yummy soups and stews from the slow cooker. I also love the cold cheek feeling that dillpickle metioned :)ReplyDelete
I also love your scarves- beautiful.
I love wearing layers of colour and texture in winter clothing. I love winter soups and home-made bread.... I love that scarf, too.ReplyDelete
Favourite things about winter? That's easy - jackets, scarves, hats & gloves! Hands down!ReplyDelete
Snow on the mountain, fires, hot chocolate, mashmallows, knitting, doonas and blankets piled up so you can barely turn over under the weight... frost on the grass, layers of warm clothes, coats gloves and scarves!! I love winter.ReplyDelete
Feel free to use my Polly pic :) Thanks for her, she's lovely. x
My fav thing about winter is snuggles and red wine and that smell in the air after the rain has fallen / first thing in the morning! All fresh and clean smelling, and the fantastic excuse to stay indoors!ReplyDelete
Hot. Water. Bottles. (Though thinking about it I also put them in the freezer for scorching summer nights. At least in winter you don't wake up in an ice melted puddle). Oh and a handknitted toasty jumper for your hot water bottle so it in turn stays a snuggly temperature for the entire night.ReplyDelete
Can I go again? We never get rain in summer anyway, so the sound of big splodgy raindrops on the roof (like now) when all is snug (with a hot water bottle) inside.
I'll be quiet now.
what a lovely giveaway!! I don't think there is enough room to tell what I LOVE about winter, I look forward to it so much, being able to bake without the oven adding to the heat, quilts, bed socks, knitting without getting hot, getting dark early, hot chocolate, pumpkin soup, roasts, winter sun is cheering and warming without being horrible oh yes and hot water bottles too!!!ReplyDelete
Not sure if you got my email (sent to yourgmail address). I have a few different patterns/tips/links for making kids pants so let me know if you want any of them.ReplyDelete
I love the quiet after a big snow storm. I also love heating pads and bundling up in cozy clothes.ReplyDelete
OOH I love winter. I love rugging up with lots of handmade quilts. Also its my birthday in winter, 17 June to be exact. I would love love love to win. The scarves are very cool.ReplyDelete
you're so generous - i love giveaways! but i have to say, i don't love winter. actually, pretty much the only thing i like about winter is that you get to wear scarves. i spend almost 6 months of the year in scarves - its so cold here in melbourne that it seems i will never go out without a scarf again. (no hinting at all about winning your amazing scarf giveaway)!ReplyDelete
I love Winter, it's my favourite season. I Like the way my skin tingles when I come in from outside and my glasses fog up. I like the fact that I can go for a walk without ending up drenched in sweat, I like the grey of the London sky, I like the blustery winds and I even like the rain. But my favourite thing about Winter is snow.ReplyDelete
Do I count as international readership?
I love being rugged up warm and snug inside, while it pours with rain outside. That hasn't happened much for about the last 12 years, but came close this week when for once we got some rain!ReplyDelete
I love feeling snuggling and very comfy warm fabricsReplyDelete
I love having beautiful warm scarves! and i also love staying in bed as long as possible because even sticking your arm out from under the covers is too hard and too cold!ReplyDelete
I love Winter. I love laying in bed with a big blankie and reading a book, I love dressing up in lots of dark layers and wearing pretty shoes, I love seeing my breath like smoke in the cold air, I love running with no slippers on the tiles from my bedroom to bubbas room to check on him at night, I love HOT showers and warm Winter mornings... I don't love my husband complaining about how cold it is!!! :)ReplyDelete
Fluffy slippers and staying indoors all day sewing under a nice quilt on the couch, Winter has all the good bits, I even like exercise in winter. Thanks for sharing.ReplyDelete
How can I resist a chance of winning a swiney? My newest favourite thing about winter is riding my bike on freezing cold mornings. I can't quite believe it but its true. And the opportunity to wear skivvies every day.ReplyDelete
I wasn't going to enter cause i didn't want to be greedy as I already have one of your gorgeous creations. But i coudn't resist :-)ReplyDelete

There's no winter from where I am, but i once travelled during winter to Europe, and what i loved best about it, was waking up in the morning, and feeling like you are inside a perfect photograph =)

I love wrapping up well and going outside when it's really cold and sunny; snuggling under blankets by the fire when it's just too cold, or wet, to go out; hot puddings with cream or custard; lots and lots of things actually. And then of course when it all gets just a bit too much it's lovely to look forward to spring! Love your scarves so hope I'm lucky! xReplyDelete
Gorgeous scarf! My favorite this about winter is all the accessories that come with it....scarfs, gloves, hats, brooches! Thanks for the giveaway!ReplyDelete
