A few items of inspiration are sitting inside waiting for me to open out the cabinet door. In the frame is a print I just received from the talented Blossombird. It makes me so happy! Keeping the cabinet smelling divine is a lavendar sachet I scored from Flickettysplits at a recent market (just for being a fellow blogger). Then there's this wonderful object, a bit of sewing ephemera I found a few months ago:
It's an old spool holder. I was in a quirky Brunswick second-hand store and the bird caught my eye. When I was told what it was, my delight grew, but I decided I wasn't in the market for any more kitsch. And THEN... I noticed the writing. It's from Marysville. The Victorian town that was so recently devastated by bushfires. I bought it immediately.
The spool holder is beautiful and very special, what a great find!
ReplyDeletewow, what an amazing story about the spoolholder, that is so special. I just love birds, I would have snapped this up in an instant.
ReplyDeleteThat is truly unique. Good find.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I couldn't have passed the little bird up either. That's history right there.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of you keeping the top section for your craft goodies too.
The cabinet/desk looks great & I love the little spool holder.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet is that little birdy! Thank goodness he has a lovely new home.
ReplyDeletethats a fantastic find on both counts, the desk and thespool holder. very nice!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see your creative space coming along and all the sorting that goes with it. I think that now my creative space is the most organised part of the house! Will have to make more of an effort elsewhere! We're only in a small place too - 2 bedrooms - and there is quite an art in the organisation. I'm only just learning it though! The Marysville bird was a find, how evocative it will be for you.
ReplyDeleteNice finds! the cabinet would be so practical to store crafty bits. Storage is very important in crafty pursuits isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThe birdie certainly is special.
So glad you rescued that spool holder. That is special.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I no longer have to worry about anyone swallowing things in my studio. DH does get fed on a regular basis and the cat only comes in to lick magazines - cat drugs I think.
Ooh I love how your organizing the cabinet. So great! The spool holder is amazing. I'm a big fan of vintage!
ReplyDeleteWow what a great space you've created and what a find! And a picture from Blossomnbirds! I have only recently discovered her artwork. Her stuff is beautiful
ReplyDeleteI love a space where you can put things on display. I think it helps you to do more. When I have to fiddle about looking for stuff it puts me right off doing it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping into my creative space.
Yay for creative spaces! It is hard with limited room to be super crafty, but this writing desk is on the way to changing all that isn't it? It looks great. Have fun converting it to crafting central!
